Message from the Rector & Correspondent
Dear Confreres, Teachers, Non-Teaching Staff, Students, Parents, Alumni, and Friends of Don
Bosco School, Egmore,
As I bring to a close my six-year tenure as Rector and Correspondent, my heart is filled with
three simple yet profound sentiments: thankful, grateful, and blessed. These years have been
more than a responsibility—they have been a sacred journey, marked by God’s grace and
sustained by your firm support in our shared mission of shaping young hearts and minds.
Looking back, I see not just the passage of time, but a story of vision, growth, and
transformation. Together, we embraced technology to enhance learning and administration—
automating our school ERP systems, introducing biometric accountability, and transforming
classrooms with smart interactive panels. These steps were not merely upgrades, but
deliberate efforts to prepare our students for a rapidly evolving world.
A significant milestone in our academic journey has been the introduction of the IB Primary
Years Programme (PYP). This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing curious,
reflective, and principled learners—young individuals who are not only academically
competent but also globally aware and socially responsible.
Our infrastructure too has witnessed meaningful development: from rooftop turf grounds and
sports facilities to inclusive access through lifts, from modernized halls and audio systems to
improved hygiene through sensor-based solutions. The digitization of decades of records and
the establishment of a central data centre have strengthened our institutional foundation.
Equally heartening has been the strengthening of our alumni network through initiatives like
the Doctor’s Conclave and international gatherings such as the US Converge – Dallas. These
connections remind us that Don Bosco is not just a school, but a lifelong family.
Yet, every journey also invites reflection. As we move forward, the call is towards
sustainability—through consistent discipline, punctuality, accountability, and effective
documentation. These are not mere systems, but values that will preserve and build upon
what we have achieved together.
Don Bosco reminded us that “Education is a matter of the heart.” I have witnessed this truth
come alive in each one of you—in your dedication, your care, and your commitment to
forming not just successful students, but good human beings rooted in faith and values.
Entrusting our institution to the loving care of Mary Help of Christians, I offer my heartfelt
gratitude to each one of you. This is not a farewell, but a passing of the torch—to continue
the dream of Don Bosco: “Give me souls, take away the rest.”
May the journey ahead be filled with even greater light, purpose, and grace.
With blessings and enduring gratitude,
Rev. Dr. (Fr.) Xavier Packiam SDB
