i) The School uniform is compulsory on all School days and at school functions. Pupils should come to school neat and tidy.

ii) Their hair should be well trimmed and combed.

iii) The student should come in the school uniform on every working day including Saturdays. He is permitted to wear coloured dress on his birthday.

1) Pupils must be punctual for class on every working day. Late-comers  should not enter the class without the written permission of the Asst. Headmistress.

No pupil may absent himself without prior permission. Absence will be indicated in the Attendance register in the following ways:-

(a) If the boy has submitted a leave-letter ‘L’

(b) If the boy has submitted a sick leave-letter ‘S’

(c) If no leave-letter has been submitted ‘A’.

(d) Leave for all celebrations and functions should be applied in advance by the parents in person.

No absentee should enter the class without the written permission of the Principal / AHM.

 

2) A student absenting himself from school for 5 days in succession without permission will be marked ‘LEFT’.

 

3) Students absenting themselves without prior written permission from Parents’ Day Celebrations, Annual Sports Day Celebrations and on opening and closing days of each Term are liable to lose their place.

A week’s notice in writing is required for the removal of a pupil. The requisition should be made by the parent.

The T.C. or any other certificate or testimonial will be given free of charge if taken immediately when leaving; otherwise a search fee of Rs.200/- will be charged for every year.

(a) The students’ behaviour should be courteous and virtuous at all times and in all places both inside and outside the school.

(b)At the Stroke of the first bell for either session of the classes, all must move towards the place of assembly and remain at the allotted place, in order and in silence. A devout posture is expected from everyone during prayer.

(c) In the classroom, place is allotted to each pupil by the class teacher and no one may change it by himself. Likewise, no one may move from place to place or go out of the classroom, without proper permission.

(d) In the absence of the teacher, the class leader immediately takes charge of the class and reports the fact to the PRINCIPAL / AHM, with the help of the assistant leader.

(e) Pupils are not permitted to remain in the class room except during class hours. Exceptions need special permission.

(f) Collecting funds for any purpose without a written permission from the principal is forbidden.

(g) Chewing gum is banned in the school premises.

(h) Dyeing of hair, wearing earrings, and any form of undesirable hair style are strictly banned. Any student deliberately violating the rules will be suspended.

(i) Pupils are not allowed to talk to parents/ visitors or to leave the school premises during the school hours without the permission of the Principal / AHM.

(j) No presentation of gifts either by pupils or parents to teachers, nor any demonstration of any sort towards the teachers may be done without the expressed permission of the Principal.

(k) Dangerous or harmful games and amusements are strictly forbidden.

(l) Pupils are not allowed to use the school address to receive letters, money orders etc. or other correspondence without special permission.

(m) Students should not bring any electronic gadgets like a cellular phone, camera, i-pod, memory stick, laser lights, CDs, and Magazines to the school.

(n) Students are not allowed to bring whitener to the school.

(o) Speaking English is compulsory in the school campus.

(p) Students should strictly adhere to the rules and instructions given in the Library and observe absolute silence and owe responsible towards the property.

(q) Any student involving in the following acts will be dismissed immediately from the school with appropriate T.C. indicating the reason for his removal on that very day.

They are:

1.Copying and helping others to copy and other malpractices such as altering marks and forging signatures.

2.Physical violence - fighting with other students, causing serious injuries etc.

3. Unhealthy practices that are punishable under Legal and Educational rules.

4.Stealing things inside and outside the school.

5.Groupism, cheating and other associated activities.

6.Teasing others especially outside school.

7. Use of vulgar language and indecent behaviour.

8. Possession of materials of low moral values (books, tapes, CDs etc.)

9.Joining other clubs, courses and institutions without the permission of the Principal.

10.Absenting himself on important school functions without prior permission and refusing to participate in school programmes.

11.Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, neglect of homework,

disobedience and disrespect towards members of the staff, maligning staff and others.

Parents are expected to co-operate in the work of the school by enforcing regularity, punctuality and discipline and by taking a daily interest in their child’s progress. They should check the diary for any remarks and acknowledge it with you signature on the same day.

Homework is given with two main objectives:

(a) To provide exercise, to increase progress and to acquire skills.

(b) To test and ascertain the progress and skill acquired. All work of the first type is generally class-work and need not be corrected in detail; but all work of the second type is corrected. In the lower classes, as far as possible, corrections are done in the presence of the pupil.

i) Pupils absent for examinations without valid reason will be considered as having failed. Pupils absent for any examination for any reason whatsoever will not be re-examined. The marks obtained in the Quarterly, Half-Yearly and Final examinations will be considered for promotion.

ii) After the Terminal examination the scripts of the students of Stds. IV and V will be sent to the parents through their sons for their perusal and signature, and they should be returned the next day.

iii) Progress Reports showing the application of the pupils and their results will be given to the parents after every terminal examination . Parents or guardians are  requested to examine the Progress Report carefully and see that their sons or wards make a special effort to study those subjects in which they are weak.

iv) Parents should attend the Open Day held after every Terminal Exam.

Examinations:

Grade System:

Grades will be allotted as per government rule for the I, II, and III Semester Examinations.

 

Awards:

 Best Student Award & Library Wizard Award

Every week a best student will be selected from each section and will be awarded the best student of the week badge. At the end of the academic year certificates will be awarded.

 

Library wizard award is given in order to encourage the students cultivate the habit of reading books.

Malpractice:

A student caught copying or indulging in any other malpractice, will not be allowed to take a subsequent examination until the Principal grants him written permission to take the other examinations. Such a student must bring his parents to the Principal. A fitting punishment will be meted out to the student according to the discretion of the Principal.

Term assessment will be conducted and grades will be given.

It is forbidden to write or scribble on the school walls and furniture, to throw paper or ink about the class-room, or in any way damage the school property. Damage done must be paid for at the discretion of the Principal.

Pupils are responsible for their own books, stationeries,  tiffin-carriers, sports kit or any other article that they may bring to school.

Boys are strictly forbidden to bring cell phones to the class or to introduce any sort of comics or objectionable literature into the school or to purchase any article of food from unauthorised dealers in or near the school premises.

Every pupil must take part in school games and other activities unless declared physically unfit or exempted by the Principal.

Attendance at official school functions like Parents’ Day, Sports Day, Independence Day, etc. is compulsory.

i) The School accepts no responsibility if the pupil is obliged to return home during class-hours for not wearing the school uniform, for not bringing books to class, for not producing the signature of parents on remarks written by teachers or on the absence record in the calendar, for indiscipline and for repeated late-coming.

ii) The School cannot be held responsible for accidents, minor or serious, to pupils during school hours or during excursions.

iii) Pupils are not allowed to meet parents or relatives or to leave the school premises during school-hours without the permission of the Principal.

The school diary is a record concerning the student. Therefore every pupil should take special care of the diary and bring it to class; if anyone loses it, he should get a written authorisation from the Principal to buy a duplicate diary paying a special fine for his carelessness.

The parents may meet the teachers after the School hours after getting prior permission either from the Vice Principal or Asst. Headmistress.

School Counsellor is available in school on all working days from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.

In accordance with the latest development in law, Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School has constituted a ‘Grievance Redressal Committee’ (GRC) consisting of three members to address grievances of staff and students including all complaints pertaining to sexual harassment. Further information on this can be obtained from Rev. Fr. Rector.

For the Safety and benefit of our students and parents, we have been operating the School Bus Service successfully. It is the policy of the School that students should use School Bus Service and avoid private Vans and Autos. For details contact Transport office.

When there is change of address / phone number the parents are to inform the School Office about the new address / new phone number.
