Today a Reader…Tomorrow a Leader
Don Bosco Primary started an ‘inside class’ activity that grew into the Book Fest, where each class teacher has a library in the class. With over 200 books in every class, students are encouraged to borrow books and return it with a presentation on what they had read. As this has been taking place with a lot of enthusiasm, the Book Fest is a spill over idea of the class teacher lending library started in the year 2014. ‘Book Fest’ is now an annual event
Driven by a passion to promote the interest in books and culture of reading, Book Fest invites students of Std. I to V to participate in ‘Character Portrayal Contest’. This calls for the students to portray the characters which inspired them or liked by them in the books they had read.
The contest was held in English and Tamil. Characters like Pinocchio, Rumpelstiltskin, Harry Potter, Sherlock Homes, Rajaraja Cholan, Prince Charming, Magical Cat, Captain Jack, Peter Pan, Jake, Sponge Bob, Bob the Builder, Tamil Poets and kings and many more walked the stage amidst rip roaring applause.
The costume of the contestants was impeccable. The ease with which they enacted on the stage proves how cognizant they were of their favorite fictional and historical characters.
Mrs. Esther Stanley- Head of Talent Management, and Mrs. Luveena Cyrus from EBEK language laboratories judged the contest in English . Mrs. Kanchana, teacher from Our Ladys School and Mrs. Diana Nancy from St. Columbians School Mrs. judged the Tamil Contest.
The winners were awarded with certificates. Rev. Fr. Michelraj Lazar congratulated the winners and Ms. Kulandai Teresa AHM thanked the participants and the judges.
We ardently hope that this aim to take reading a step ahead continues and results in making students to indulge in reading or virtual reading and move ahead with the progressive world.
